Gevolgd door een publiek gesprek tussen Manon de Boer en Pieternel Vermoortel (artistiek coördinator Netwerk Aalst)

Sinds 2015 voeren kunstenaar Manon de Boer en choreografe Latifa Laâbissi een voortdurende dialoog over de vele stemmen die huizen in hun lichamen en hun denken. Tijdens een lang proces van uitwisselen en het ‘kannibaliseren’ van elkaars invloeden ontstond zowel een performance, Ghost Party (1) (2021), als een film, Ghost Party (2), die ze realiseerden in de door Juliaan Lampens ontworpen Woning Van Wassenhove.

In Ghost Party (2) creëren de Boer en Laâbissi kleine ficties met vazen, stenen en andere materialen, terwijl ze een stem geven aan teksten die door hun genealogie van gedeelde referenties spoken, onder meer afkomstig van auteurs als Marguerite Duras, filmcriticus Serge Daney, de Franse rapster Casey en Braziliaanse antropoloog Eduardo Viveiros de Castro. In deze polyfonie van stemmen en accenten vermengen ze hun zijn met dat van anderen, waarbij op subtiele wijze de politiek van taal en identiteit ter discussie wordt gesteld.

Performance, beeldende kunst en cinema zijn in Ghost Party (2) op speelse wijze met elkaar verweven. In deze heterogene vorm verschijnen de stemmen, de lichamen en de objecten telkens in een ander licht, waardoor het fundamentele thema van transmutatie en creatie wordt onderstreept.

• De Gentse première van deze nieuwe film is het slotevenement van drie avonden die OFFoff wijdt aan het werk van Manon de Boer naar aanleiding van de tentoonstelling ‘Blindsight – Manon de Boer in dialoog met Latifa Laâbissi en Laszlo Umbreit’ in Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens (13 februari – 22 mei) te Deurle. De andere avonden vinden plaats op maandag 14 maart en maandag 11 april.

• De drie filmprogramma’s zijn gratis op vertoon van een ticket van de tentoonstelling. Omgekeerd kan u met een filmticket gratis de tentoonstelling bezoeken.
