De New Yorkse kunstenaar Ben Thorp Brown keert terug naar Kunsthal Gent om Cura's Garden te herontdekken. De nieuwe tuin maakt deel uit van onze Endless Exhibition en werd ontwikkeld i.s.m. Jan Minne. Ze werd geopend in mei 2023 en gaat nu haar eerste herfst in.

Ben Thorp Brown leidt ons door zijn divers werk en toont 3 van zijn eerdere films, waaronder: Drowned World (2016, 8 min), Gropius Memory Palace (2017, 20 min) en Cura (2019, 17 min).

Het werk van Ben Thorp Brown onderzoekt de effecten van voortdurende economische, ecologische en technologische veranderingen. Zijn projecten werken met video, sculptuur en installatie en worden vaak ontwikkeld in dialoog met specifieke architecturale sites en landschappen, die een decor worden voor een fictieve wereld.

Vrijdagavonden

Dit najaar presenteren we tijdens de Vrijdagavonden 10 weken lang een programma rond één of meerdere kunstenaars, een collectief of organisatie. We bieden lokale partners een platform. En we stellen kunstenaars centraal waar Kunsthal Gent momenteel mee samenwerkt. Iedere vrijdagavond is anders: van performance, artist talk en boekpresentatie tot gesprek, diner of filmvertoning.
