ENGAGEMENT DEELT: DE KRACHT VAN GRENZEN

Aan de hand van een lezing en een open gesprek deelt ENGAGEMENT ARTS handvatten om complexe situaties van grensoverschrijdend gedrag veilig te benoemen, te beschrijven en erop te reageren.

Hoe geven we onze grenzen aan wanneer we werkzaam zijn binnen een professionele realiteit die onduidelijke grenzen viert? Wat is het verschil tussen conflict en misbruik? Is consent de ultieme oplossing? Tijdens deze avond nodigt ENGAGEMENT uit om de relatie tussen transgressie en kunst open te bespreken. We brengen specifieke risicofactoren van het veld samen in kaart, delen strategieën en instrumenten om inclusiviteit en bewustzijn te stimuleren en bevragen hoe we het kunnen hebben over artistieke vrijheid zonder persoonlijke grenzen uit het oog te verliezen.

Het programma vangt aan met een lezing en wordt vervolgd door een open gesprek. De lezing zal bestaan uit een toelichting over het ontstaan van ENGAGEMENT, seksisme kaderen als een systeem, en grensoverschrijdend gedrag/sectorspecifiek machtsmisbruik duiden als symptoom daarvan. Vervolgens introduceren we het 'vlaggensysteem'. Het vlaggensysteem is ontwikkeld door Sensoa en is in samenwerking met hen aangepast voor de culturele sector door oKo en Sociaal Fonds Podiumkunsten met betrokkenheid van IDEWE, ENGAGEMENT en andere partners.

Deze avond biedt een context die helpt bij het inschatten van risico's en faciliteert een open gesprek over waarom iets wel of niet als grensoverschrijdend wordt beschouwd. We gaan onze intuïtie niet uit de weg, maar we zoeken naar een manier om situaties objectiever en analytisch te benaderen om zo tot een gedeeld moreel kader te komen binnen de werkcontext.

ENGAGEMENT is een door kunstenaars geleide organisatie die als doel heeft om seksueel grensoverschrijdend gedrag, seksisme en machtsmisbruik in het Belgische kunstenveld aan te pakken.

Vrijdagavonden

Dit najaar presenteren we tijdens de Vrijdagavonden 10 weken lang een programma rond één of meerdere kunstenaars, een collectief of organisatie. We bieden lokale partners een platform. En we stellen kunstenaars centraal waar Kunsthal Gent momenteel mee samenwerkt. Iedere vrijdagavond is anders: van performance, artist talk en boekpresentatie tot gesprek, diner of filmvertoning.
