Wat betekent het om de zorgdrager van een kunstwerk te zijn?

L. Puska deelt inzichten uit haar doorlopende performanceproject URGENT - Residency for Artworks, waarin ze samenleeft met drie kunstwerken van andere kunstenaars: Eva Spierenburg, Niina Tervo en Sijben Rosa. In de week vóór de Vrijdagavond is ze in de Kunsthal Gent voor een korte residentie, waardoor de Kunsthal Gent een tijdelijk thuis wordt voor de objecten.

Wat gebeurt er als objecten fysieke en sociale interacties teweegbrengen? Welke soort relatie ontstaat er tussen een kunstenaar en een kunstwerk tijdens het maakproces? Wat betekent het om een zorgdrager van een kunstwerk te zijn? L. Puska nodigt je uit om stil te staan bij een object en de performatieve aanwezigheid ervan te observeren.

De avond begint met een performatieve introductie van de drie objecten, gebaseerd op Laura's ervaring van het delen van haar leven met elk van de werken. Na de inleiding volgt een gesprek over leven met, naast en omringd door objecten, tussen de kunstenaar, Laura Boxberg (directeur Fins Cultureel Instituut Brussel), Eva Spierenburg (kunstenaar) en Danielle van Zuijlen (Kunsthal Gent.)

L. Puska

L. Puska (1986) is een Finse interdisciplinaire kunstenaar met een performance-based artistieke praktijk. Haar werk omvat zowel teken-, beeldhouw- en videowerken als collaboratieve praktijken en gechoreografeerde routines. Kenmerkend voor haar werk is dat ze materiaal hergebruikt en accumuleert, acties herhaalt en varieert, samenwerkt en experimenteert met vormen van co-auteurschap, microsociale relaties en agency. Ze beschouwt objecten als potentiële metgezellen en performatieve gebaren als een middel om de aandacht te sturen. Puska studeerde aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, Aalto University in Helsinki en LUCA School of Arts. Ze woont en werkt momenteel in Gent.

Vrijdagavonden

Dit najaar presenteren we tijdens de Vrijdagavonden 10 weken lang een programma rond één of meerdere kunstenaars, een collectief of organisatie. We bieden lokale partners een platform. En we stellen kunstenaars centraal waar Kunsthal Gent momenteel mee samenwerkt. Iedere vrijdagavond is anders: van performance, artist talk en boekpresentatie tot gesprek, diner of filmvertoning.
