Boekvoorstelling van Gestoord, de eer­ste Nederlandse ver­ta­ling van de debuut­ro­man Irre (1983, Suhrkamp) van de Duitse cult­schrij­ver Rainald Goetz (1954).

Vertaler Sebastian Roth leest voor en gaat daar­bij in inter­ac­tie met muzi­kant en video­kun­ste­naar Jean D.L. (1984), wiens muzi­ka­le live uni­ver­sum van gitaar en field recor­dings echo’s van fil­mi­sche land­schap­pen, ver­beel­dings­vol­le en hei­i­ge sounds­ca­pes oproept. Zijn film A Place is een drie­luik dat een abstract, afstan­de­lijk en tege­lijk inti­mis­tisch en geïn­te­ri­o­ri­seerd ​‘por­tret’ schetst van diver­se ruim­tes, bela­den met affec­ten en per­soon­lij­ke geschie­de­nis. We kij­ken ernaar uit Jean De Lacoste opnieuw te ver­wel­ko­men meer dan tien jaar na de avond die we aan zijn films en muziek wijd­den in 2011. Verwacht u aan een mani­sche knip- en plak­fu­ga van tekst, geluid en beeld.

In Gestoord raakt een jon­ge, aspi­re­ren­de punk­psy­chi­a­ter door de con­fron­ta­tie met de dage­lijk­se besog­nes en het leven in een psy­chi­a­tri­sche inrich­ting zelf het spoor bijs­ter. Vóór dit debuut was de jon­ge schrij­ver al een begrip in de Duitse lite­rai­re wereld. Tijdens een lezing van zijn ver­haal Subito op de uit­rei­king van de Ingeborg Bachmannpreis sneed Goetz voor de tele­vi­sie­ca­me­ra’s met een scheer­mes zijn voor­hoofd open. ​“Op het moment dat Goetz zijn sche­del open­sneed en het bloed op zijn manu­script drup­pel­de en drup­pel­de, werd de schrij­ver Rainald Goetz gebo­ren,” schreef een Duits literatuurrecensent.

Dit najaar presenteren we tijdens de Vrijdagavonden 10 weken lang een programma rond één of meerdere kunstenaars, een collectief of organisatie. We bieden lokale partners een platform. En we stellen kunstenaars centraal waar Kunsthal Gent momenteel mee samenwerkt. Iedere vrijdagavond is anders: van performance, artist talk en boekpresentatie tot gesprek, diner of filmvertoning.
