Over rokko

Tot augustus 2023 was rokko een radicaal feministische queer boekhandel en café in Gent. In 2024 hopen we rokko voort te zetten. Op een andere locatie, in een nieuwe structuur en met nieuwe gezichten. Maar met hetzelfde doel: proberen de marge naar het centrum te brengen. In boeken en in mensen.

Voorlopig zit rokko tussen wat het was en wat het zal worden in. Terwijl we de toekomst van rokko vormgaven, vonden we een tijdelijk onderkomen in de Kunsthal Gent.

Hoe creëer je vrije ruimte in een onvrije wereld? Dat is de grote vraag die we ons de komende maanden zullen stellen om rokko vorm te geven. Elke woensdagavond openen we onze deuren in de Kunsthal Gent voor de rokko-avonden. Je bent van harte welkom als je mee wilt denken.

Vrijdagavonden

Dit najaar presenteren we tijdens de Vrijdagavonden 10 weken lang een programma rond één of meerdere kunstenaars, een collectief of organisatie. We bieden lokale partners een platform. En we stellen kunstenaars centraal waar Kunsthal Gent momenteel mee samenwerkt. Iedere vrijdagavond is anders: van performance, artist talk en boekpresentatie tot gesprek, diner of filmvertoning.
