Tijdens de Gentse Feesten gaat Zomersalon: Buy Local in feestmodus. De tentoonstelling opent elke dag van 11:00 - 18:00. Vrijdag en zaterdag openen we ook 's avonds, met jonge Gentse collectieven die voor muziek zorgen. Go Boom zet vanavond Kat & Poodle achter de draaitafels!

Tijdens Zomersalon: Buy Local 3 worden de werken van 650 Gentse kunstenaars getoond én verkocht aan een breed publiek. Met deze omvangrijke tentoonstelling presenteren we een grote diversiteit aan werken waardoor er een brede kijk op de huidige beeldende kunstscene in onze stad ontstaat.

In tegenstelling tot de gangbare tentoonstellingen binnen Kunsthal Gent, nemen we voor Zomersalon: Buy Local 3 de radicale, maar weloverwogen beslissing dat iedere Gentse kunstenaar kan deelnemen. Het publiek kan zich dus onderdompelen in de volle breedte van de Gentse beeldende kunstwereld en in contact komen met de kunstenaars achter de werken. Gentse organisaties worden uitgenodigd om als partner het Zomersalon mee te ondersteunen én vorm te geven. Op die manier creëren we een kader dat ontmoetingen mogelijk maakt tussen kunstenaars, kunstorganisaties, het publiek en potentiële kopers.

Het concept van het Zomersalon ontstond tijdens de coronacrisis, om kunstenaars in moeilijke tijden financieel te ondersteunen. De eerste edities vonden plaats in 2020 en 2021, in samenwerking met het Gents Kunstenoverleg. Het miste zijn effect niet. Per editie kwamen 6000 bezoekers over de vloer. Er namen eerst 600, vervolgens zo’n 700 kunstenaars deel en zowat de helft van de getoonde werken vond een koper, goed voor telkens €125.000 aan verkochte werken. De opbrengst ging rechtstreeks naar de kunstenaars. 70 Gentse organisaties communiceerden mee over het Zomersalon, waarvan 15 een eigen evenement organiseerde binnen het Zomersalon: van lezingen en rondleidingen tot workshops en een brunch. Naast een doorsnede van de rijke Gentse kunstwereld werd het Zomersalon dé plek om elkaar en de kunstenaars achter het werk te ontmoeten.

In 2023 gaan we verder op dit elan, met opnieuw een weelde aan beeldende kunstwerken die te koop worden aangeboden. We heten je van harte welkom op Zomersalon: Buy Local 3, van 14 juli tot 3 september in Kunsthal Gent.
