Sander Buyck - We Meet In Paradise

Introduction by Els Roelandt (GLEAN/KASK) & Khalil Shaheen (Palestina Café).

After different trips to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, the photographer Sander Buyck brings a revealing and profound insight into the lives and the stories of the posters of Palestinian martyrs with his publication ‘We meet in Paradise’. This book puts the ongoing struggle and human stories on display: ‘Martyr posters are an expression of Palestina itself’.

With text contributions of Alain Platel, Laurens Dhaenens, Ward Schouppe, Tineke Schuurmans and Sander Buyck himself.

A stack of zines retrieved from an airplane crash, urgent delivery!Exhibiting 57 young, Belgian artists in a publication as a kind of group exhibition, that is what visual artist Robin Verslegers with ‘Kerozine’ – the successor of ‘Limozine’ – does. Each page of this artist’s publication contains its own universe, a personal visual story of each artist exhibiting in the magazine. With just one look the viewer is immediately immersed in the exhibitor’s personal visual language. This is a book like a roller coaster, from which there is no escape.

Reciting of an opening letter by Godart Bakkers followed by a selection of letters from the publication.‘Een goede dag, met vriendelijke groet’ is a publication by Topo Copy, for and by the residents of ‘De Nieuwe Wandeling’. Inspired by the letter paintings of Belgian painter Joseph Willaert, who painted a series of large-format letters in 1973, this book presents the correspondence between 10 prisoners and an equal number of unknown people outside the prison of Ghent.

This publication is a result of the collaboration between S.M.A.K. moves, Topo Copy, De Rode Antraciet and the prison of Ghent.
