Kristof Van Heeschvelde
Kristof Van Heeschvelde (b. 1982, Ghent) is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in social friction and critical observation. He takes as his starting point that which ‘jars’ or what is unjustly considered normal in our society. In his paintings, drawings, and participatory projects, such as Drawing a Sailor, he explores the boundary between personal involvement and sharp social analysis. By focusing on process, imperfection, and the power of humor, his work compels the viewer to slow down and offers a renewed perspective on our collective interconnectedness.
