Vrijdagavonden: An Autumn Night with Ben Thorp Brown

  • The bar is open from 19:00
  • Program starts at 20:00
  • Entrance: Pay What You Can
  • Language: English

New York based artist Ben Thorp Brown returns to Kunsthal Gent to revisit Cura's Garden together with you. Cura’s Garden is an Endless Exhibition that was developed in collaboration with Jan Minne, opened in May 2023, and now enters its first autumn.

Ben Thorp Brown walks us through his diverse practice and shows 3 of his earlier films, including: Drowned World (2016, 8 min), Gropius Memory Palace (2017, 20 min) en Cura (2019, 17 min).

Ben Thorp Brown's work considers the effects of ongoing economic, environmental, and technological change. Working with video, sculpture, and installation, his projects are often developed in dialogue with specific architectural sites and landscapes, which become settings for a fictive world.

Friday Evenings

This autumn, we will present a programme around one or more artists, a collective or organisation for 10 weeks during the Friday Evenings. We offer local partners a platform. And we put artists with whom Kunsthal Gent currently collaborates in the spotlight. Every Friday evening is different: from performance, artist talk and book presentation to conversation, dinner or film screening.
