Pay what you can

Vrijdagavonden: De Nieuwe Organisatie

  • The bar is open from 19:00
  • Program starts at 20:00
  • Entrance: Pay What You Can
De Nieuwe Organisatie

The New Organization, a multipolar project driven by Ben Benaouisse, aims to act as an NGO for visual artists. The project aims to invent new concepts and revise old working methods with attention to the artistic, logistical, administrative and financial needs of both professional and amateur artists. The aim is to be active where the need is greatest. The New Organization creates projects for artists, produces new works of art and establishes artistic institutions. Appropriate expertise is sought where local and international artists are still in need within the current artistic landscape.

After four months of collaboration with various artists in occupying the Old House, this evening Ben will look back at what has developed in that time and space. This will include how The New Organization played a role for the participating artists, what questions were answered and what new questions arose, and what are the possibilities for the future.

Friday Evenings

Every Friday evening for 9 weeks, Kunsthal Gent will host a program centered around one or more artists, a collective or organization. From an artist talk, debate or book presentation to a performance, documentary or film evening.

The events are partly related to Kunsthal Gent's artistic program and have grown out of the courses of artists with whom we currently collaborate, such as the evenings with Eleni Kamma (in collaboration with Hans Bryssinck and KASK Performance students), Dieter Durinck and Ben Benaouisse.

However, much of Vrijdagavonden's program comes about in dialogue and collaboration with local partners and artists. For this series we collaborated with, among others, Lochness, School of Love, Martina Petrović & Robert Monchen (In de Ruimte) Filip Van Dingenen and Hélène Meyer (Piloot).
