Vrijdag 14 juli wordt Zomersalon: Buy Local 3 feestelijk geopend, van 20:00 tot 24:00! Het jonge Gentse technocollectief esc. (escapism) neemt plaats achter de draaitafels en zocht voor zwoele beats.

Tijdens Zomersalon: Buy Local 3 worden de werken van 655 Gentse kunstenaars getoond én verkocht aan een breed publiek. Met deze omvangrijke tentoonstelling presenteren we een grote diversiteit aan werken waardoor er een brede kijk op de huidige beeldende kunstscene in onze stad ontstaat.

In tegenstelling tot de gangbare tentoonstellingen binnen Kunsthal Gent, nemen we voor Zomersalon: Buy Local 3 de radicale, maar weloverwogen beslissing dat iedere Gentse kunstenaar kan deelnemen. Het publiek kan zich dus onderdompelen in de volle breedte van de Gentse beeldende kunstwereld en in contact komen met de kunstenaars achter de werken. Gentse organisaties worden uitgenodigd om als partner het Zomersalon mee te ondersteunen én vorm te geven. Op die manier creëren we een kader dat ontmoetingen mogelijk maakt tussen kunstenaars, kunstorganisaties, het publiek en potentiële kopers.

esc. (escape/escapism) is een Gents techno concept met de focus op de diepere hypnotische kant van het technospectrum. Het collectief bestaat uit Tim D’hont (Tim Strafinsky) en Arne De Meyer (Formwandler). Sinds 2020 worden de dieptes van techno verkend in een maandelijkse podcast, in samenwerking met lokale artiesten. Enkele artiesten die hun intrede reeds hebben gehad bij esc. zijn o.a: Corvus Ex, Seba Lecompte, Atis, Man Outta Space, Ampe, Keyser,…

De muzikale insteek bij esc. varieert van diep minimalisme, ambient gevulde melancholie tot ruwe hypnotische texturen.
