In collaboration with Towards Apartheid Free Zones (TAFZ, Brussels), we will livestream the reading of the Gaza Monologues — a powerful collection of testimonies by Palestinian children and youth — performed live from GC De Vaartkapoen (Brussels).
The Gaza Monologues is a collection of deeply personal testimonies originally written in 2010 by a group of young people from Gaza, under the auspices of ASHTAR Theatre. These short monologues recount the lived experiences of children and youth who survived the war and siege in Gaza — stories of loss, fear, resilience, hope, and a longing for a life beyond violence.Since 2010, the texts have been translated into many languages and — through solidarity readings around the world — have been performed by thousands of youth and actors in dozens of countries. The Gaza Monologues thus aims to amplify the voices of young Gazans whose stories often remain unheard, fostering global awareness, empathy, and solidarity.
Imagine it not as a formal programme, but as a shared space of solidarity. At CC De Vaartkapoen in Brussels, everyone is welcome to join the gathering in person — to read a Gaza Monologue (sign-up open in advance and on-site), bring a song, practice calligraphy, or simply stand together for Palestine.
At Kunsthal Gent, we will broadcast the event live and hold space collectively as we follow the readings from Brussels.
