We make Kunsthal Gent together: become an ally!

Contemporary art is always in motion. Artists experiment, push boundaries and work together. They offer refreshing perspectives and ask us and our society critical questions. But finding time and space to develop their work and connect with a curious audience remains a major challenge for many artists.

At Kunsthal Gent, we believe this is where collaboration, collectivity and equity make the difference. Network, opportunities for growth and room for experimentation become stronger when carried by many shoulders in a strong community. For that community we want to be a home: an incubator for new ideas and initiatives and a meeting place for artists, visitors, activists and collectives. An open house that embodies the vitality of the city and the world around it.

How do we do this? With Zomersalon: Buy Local, every other year we offer a platform to more than 700 visual artists in Ghent. We give time and space to artists in the international residency programme Permanently Practising. In Refuge, we host pioneering local initiatives and build bridges between numerous organisations and artists. In the Endless Exhibition and temporary exhibitions, we present both established and emerging artists. And we provide a platform for more than 100 activities by various players in the visual arts field every year.

But we cannot do this alone. Our allies play a crucial role in this. With their engagement, they enrich and support our dynamic community. Become an ally too and support contemporary art in a unique way, get closer to the artist’s experiment and discover Kunsthal Gent from the inside.

What do we offer you?

As an ally, you are part of an enthusiastic community of artists and art lovers who put their weight behind art in our society and want to share their commitment with each other

Allies walk in and out freely for a year during weekend days and weekday activities at Kunsthal Gent. Moreover, you’ll get closer during unique behind-the-scenes moments:

each year, we host four to five unique events for our allies, bringing them into contact with artists and Kunsthal Gent
you can always bring along a +1 (friend, foe, partner, family member or colleague) at these moments

Every ally is equally valuable. Every ally contributes what they can and gets the same in return! Prices listed are per year. You choose:

Did you know?

The King Baudouin Foundation lends its cooperation to the project. Donations of 40 € per year or more to the Foundation give rise to a tax reduction on the amount actually deposited (art. 145/33 WIB).

FAQ

How can I become an ally?

You can do this at the entrance desk of Kunsthal Gent (weekend days between 11:00 and 18:00) or online via this form. After you have filled in the form, you will receive an automatic confirmation from us. Within a few days, Aike will then send you a message with all the payment information. If your payment arrives in the right place, you will receive a personal voucher in your mailbox with which you can collect your alliance card at the Kunsthal Gent reception desk.

Why can I choose my own price?

We believe that art and our dynamic community should be accessible to everyone. With the ‘pay what you can’ principle, we hope to lower the financial barriers to getting close(er) to Kunsthal Gent. We work with a starting price and suggest amounts according to your ability to pay. This makes the alliance possible for everyone’s budget.

Why are the prices €33 — 77 — 111 — 222 per year?

Just tell us, that looks nice, doesn’t it! It already makes us happy and there is something for everyone.
