Firas El Hallak
Firas El Hallak is an audiovisual artist and curator who divides his time between Belgium and Beirut. He serves as the Artistic Director at Splinter vzw. His diverse artistic practice spans film, installation, and new media art. El Hallak’s audiovisual productions have been featured in numerous theaters, galleries, and festivals across various performance art scenes. His extensive body of work includes films, comics, documentaries, TV commercials, installation art, and music videos.
El Hallak holds an MA in Visual and Scenic Arts from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and a postgraduate degree in Digital Storytelling from the KASK School of Arts in Ghent. In addition to his artistic practice, he teaches Sound Theory at the Lebanese University.
El Hallak frequently collaborates with other artists and writers and is a member of several art collectives in both Beirut and Europe. He is deeply committed to researching and exploring how artists can create and shape culture in an increasingly screen-centric world.
El Hallak’s work has been exhibited in various venues worldwide, including the Prague Quadrennial 2019 “Our Theatre of the World,” Guestroom Maribor, the Canadian Pavilion Expo 67, and the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam. He has also participated in numerous exhibitions in his hometown of Beirut.
