Housewarming: Temporary Centre for Shared Practice

Friday evening marks the launch of the autumn season. From then on, Kunsthal Gent will be open to visitors every weekend. This Friday is different from usual: instead of a vernissage for a finished exhibition, we are welcoming the public for the first time into the Temporary Center for Shared Practice, which will take shape and come to life over the coming months. So, no “opening” this time, but a “housewarming.” Because that is exactly what it is: the furniture isn’t quite in place yet, boxes are still unpacked, and the artists are still finding their way.

Temporary Centre for Shared Practice

Takeover: Kunsthal Gent as a temporary workspace for young artists

We invite young artists to explore, experiment, get to know one another, and collaborate. We are clearing space, both literally and figuratively, so they can work from their own practices and needs. There is no predetermined end result, but rather a shared structure, time, company, and support.

During the weekend, the workshop is freely accessible to the public from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Try-outs and presentations take place regularly: moments when the artists showcase what they are working on, across the various rooms and pavilions of Kunsthal Gent.

Are you a young artist looking for a temporary workspace, connection, and support? You are still welcome to be part of this process. You can apply via the registration form. (Note: initial practical information will be provided at the end of the form).

Louise Delanghe Fund

The initiative for the temporary workshop arose from the Artists’ Fund at Kunsthal Gent, in collaboration with Patty Delanghe — with whom we established theLouise Delanghe Fund for young artists — and Robert Monchen of Pizza Gallery. It stems from the simple, shared conviction that young artists deserve a space to gather and experiment.

As a tribute to her daughter Louise Delanghe (1994 – 2025) and as a vote of confidence in young trailblazers, we established the Louise Delanghe Fund together with Patty last summer. It offers a helping hand to those who are still exploring, experimenting, and growing.

Magali Coremans

Magali Coremans is a Brussels-based artist working across film, text, photography and installation. Through an intuitive and process-driven approach, she explores the partial nature of perception and the spaces that open up for reflection and dialogue in what remains unresolved or unseen. Themes of care, embodiment and relationality run through her projects, which often take shape through collaboration. At its core, her practice is an ongoing act of attentiveness – to the body, to memory and to the quiet threads that connect people and places.
