Open Monumentendag: Nina Hynes & Fiona Hallinan

Nina Hynes: Sound Installation (14:00 — 16:00)

Nina Hynes is a Brussels-based multidisciplinary artist, musician and hypnotherapist, with over 30 years’ experience working in sound and music. Trained in Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP, she now runs Better World Hypnotherapy, guiding people through her signature PIE Method — using voice, sound and frequency, including binaural beats and solfeggio tones, to reset the nervous system and open space for transformation. “I believe in the power of frequencies to transform and transcend ourselves,” she says.

On Open Monuments Day, she offers a live sound bath alongside Fiona Hallinan’s Fragment Mediation, inviting listeners into a shared space of deep rest and resonance as a counterpart to Hallinan’s meditation on endings and transition.

Fiona Hallinan: Endless Exhibition (16:00)

Fiona Hallinan is returning to Kunsthal Gent with her large sculptural table and accompanying video work. During Open Monument Day, her work Fragment Mediation will be officially singed into the Endless Exhibition, where it will be minded indefinitely. To mark this occasion, the contract with the artist will be signed at 16:00.

Preview: Temporary Centre for Shared Practice (ongoing)

In September, Kunsthal Gent is temporarily closed to the public. Behind closed doors, the spaces are transforming this month into a workspace for young artists preparing for the major autumn takeover.

For Heritage Day, we are making an exception and opening the doors of the former Carmelite monastery. It is an opportunity to visit the monumental building and the Endless Exhibition, while getting a first look at the processes and projects currently under way.

Following this interim opening, the workshop will close again until the official start of the new season, marked by a festive Kick-off on Friday evening, September 25. A warm welcome to all.
