About this series

Cultural organizations often have spaces that could mean more than their current use. Sharing these spaces requires not only practical agreements but also an attitude of equality, hospitality, and trust. The TOOP Sharing of Semi-Public Space develops a contract for this purpose — not as a control tool, but as a way to make needs discussable and to encourage the sharing of space. Together, we explore how to create a framework in which different parties — organizations, artists, citizens—can engage in dialogue on an equal footing.

Since 2020 Kunsthal Gent organises the Syllabus Reading Group, around the work Syllabus by the Irish artist Jesse Jones: a monumental curtain with the arm of Silvia Federici, that creates a space for gathering.
