During Friday Evenings, we present a 10-week programme around one or more artists, a collective or organisation. manoeuvre opens the doors of ‘t Oud Huis. Come meet the makers and dive into reflections on manoeuvre.

Come meet the manoeuvre makers and immerse yourself in their collective reflections on manoeuvre. You are invited to the cinema to sample their sugar experiments during the screening of the film ‘Women of Trachis’ (All Greeks) by Leila Feys.

Afterwards, they move to the old house, where you can experience live the process of reflections on their latest projects of ‘24 and meet the collectives of manoeuvre, together with artists and makers.

manoeuvre

manoeuvre is a co-creative arts PRACTICE and PLATFORM for transdisciplinary arts, facilitating artists’ relational participation trajectories with diverse communities. The focus is on the intertwining of art, craft (with a penchant for textiles) and everyday life. They conduct a continuous practice research on co-creation, co-authorship and co-ownership where the process is as important as the result. Trust is paramount throughout the process. Chris Rotsaert is an interdependent artist and the coordinator of manoeuvre.

Leila Feys

Leila Feys (1999, BE) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Ghent. She obtained her master’s degree in painting from LUCA in 2022, currently she is still studying a bachelor’s degree in film at KASK. With her recent work, she falls mainly under the genre of documentary, experimental film and installation art. Within this, she explores themes such as the importance of community, intuition, our (lost) connection to nature, physicality… at the same time, she also tries to investigate and deconstruct the ‘rules’ within the art world.

Lize Maekelberg

Lize Maekelberg is a long-term artist at manoeuvre. She shares just as we share sugar, her knowledge of textiles, wool, her love of cheerful colours, beauty, playfulness, festivity and tenderness.

Friday Evenings

During Friday Nights, we present a programme around one or more artists, a collective or organisation for 9 – 10 weeks. We offer local partners a platform. And we highlight artists with whom Kunsthal Gent is currently collaborating. Every Friday night is different: from performance, artist talk and book presentation to conversation, dinner or film screening.
