Lieven De Boeck is a Brussels-based artist whose practice moves between installation, performance, architecture, publishing and collaborative artistic processes. He explores how artworks, exhibitions and public space can emerge through collective activation.
In 2026, he completed his PhD at ULB, entitled The Archive of Disappearance: A Practice-based PhD In and Through Composing, Performing and Unfolding. His research investigates artistic practice through processes of activation, transformation and disappearance.
His recent project, Breaking Free: Queer Temporality and Collaborative Art, brings together many of these questions. Through performances, installations, textiles and collective actions, the project approaches “queerness” as a methodology: a way of questioning fixed identities, hierarchies and temporalities, and creating other possibilities for appearing, gathering and being together.
In 2025, “Breaking Free” was published as a book by Set Margins. It brings together open-source scores, tools and reflections that enable others to activate and transform the work.
